MET 558 ADVANCED WELDING TECHNIQUES-Ⅱ

Underwater welding, Electrocinder (sub-slag) welding, Stud welding, Burn-In and Burn-Out welding and general information about Alumina-thermite welding.

 

MET 601 SPECIALIZED FIELD COURSE

Special topics, problems and current developments related to the courses taken are covered. Thesis topic Preliminary studies related to the creation are done. For this purpose, basic works and current works are examined. Article writing and symposium paper presentation opportunities are evaluated. various problems are given for research. The course uses e-mail, social networks and other digital media are utilized.

MET 557 Advanced Welding Techniques-I

General information on TIG welding, plasma transferred arc (PTA) welding, laser welding, and electron beam welding.

 

MET 560  Advanced Welding Metallurgy

Introduction to welding methods and welding metallurgy. Weldability of steels and carbon equivalence. Mechanisms of solidification in weld metals and epitaxial solidification. Changes occurring in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) and weld zone. Effects of alloying elements on weld metal, welding defects, and residual stresses in fusion welding. Overview of Fe-C equilibrium diagrams, phase structures in welding, and the welding of various types of steels, stainless steels, and non-ferrous metals. Information on pre-and post-weld heat treatments, corrosion in welded joints, and repair welding of cast irons. Topics such as hydrogen embrittlement, brittle fractures, and non-destructive testing methods in welding are also covered

 

MET 531 Metallurgical Design of Steels

Relationships between the microstructures and various mechanical properties of low, medium, and high alloy steels. Insights into the processing and development of steels and enhancing decision-making abilities in material selection for engineering designs and applications.

 

MET 555  High Technological Materials

Classification of high-tech ceramics, colloids, colloidal dispersion, gel formation, production of ceramic powders, reactions forming ceramics, synthesis of high-temperature materials, and production of high-tech ceramics using chemical CVD and PVD methods. Processes such as zirconia production from zircon, tape casting, hot isostatic pressing, and sintering techniques, along with mechanisms for stabilizing zirconia, toughening mechanisms, and properties of non-oxide ceramics, carbon, and carbon-based composites.

 

MET 548 Biomaterials
